Biography
Jeremy Vinogradov studied in his native Australia before winning a major scholarship enabling further study at the Vienna Konservatorium, Austria. Moving to the UK he gained a breadth of operatic experience as a high baritone for companies including Birmingham Opera Company, British Youth Opera, Carl Rosa and D'Oyly Carte Opera Companies, Early Opera Company, English Touring Opera, Grange Park Opera, Iford Arts, Pimlico Opera and the Longborough Festival. More recent roles included Rossini's Figaro for both Opera UK and Surrey Opera and Marcello La bohème for New Devon Opera. He has sung at the Batignano Festival in Italy and the Opera Festival in Zeist, the Netherlands.
Noted for his strong stage persona, which aided a move into the character tenor repertoire, he played Orlofsky Die Fledermaus for Opera della Luna, and made his first professional forays into Gilbert & Sullivan with the Judge Trial by Jury and Joseph Porter HMS Pinafore with Heritage Opera and Opera South East, and Major General Stanley Pirates of Penzance for Opera Anywhere.
On the concert platform Jeremy has been soloist with the London Mozart Players, and recorded Schumann's Liederkreis Op 39 for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation; he performed Schubert’s Winterreise at the Brighton Fringe and at Southside House, London, and has performed in recital at St Martin-in-the-Fields, St James’s Piccadilly and Leeds City Art Gallery, as well as at the Mumford Theatre, Cambridge and at the Fairfield Hall, Croydon.
He made his operatic tenor debut as Mayor Upfold in Britten's Albert Herring with Surrey Opera; he sang Offenbach’s Orpheus, Goro Madam Butterfly and Monostatos The Magic Flute with Opera South East; Goro with Lambeth Orchestra; Ringmaster The Bartered Bride with Kentish Opera; Gastone Traviata with New London Opera Players; Basilio and Curzio Le nozze di Figaro and Remendado Carmen with Dulwich Opera Company; Tisiphone in Rameau’s Hippolyte et Aricie with Linden Baroque Opera, Francis Flute A Midsummer Night’s Dream with Surrey Opera and Dr Blind in Fulham Opera’s Fledermaus.
More recently Jeremy performed Horace Adams Peter Grimes at Dartington under Sian Edwards, Triquet Eugene Onegin for Opera South East, and the roles of Rabbit & Mrs van der Gelder in Opera della Luna’s high acclaimed new version of Daughter of the Regiment.
